Unpack it and you'll find
- 1 × 515W TOPCon N-type panel (bifacial, glass-glass)
- 1 × APsystems EZ1-M 800W microinverter
- Adjustable hybrid mounting stand, for a wall or the ground
- 4m AC connection cable
Ballast isn't included, for when it goes on the floor.
House wall, yes. Yard wall, no.
The stand can go on a wall of your own house: the back wall, or the side wall of the outrigger (the back kitchen bit that sticks out). It needs about 2.0m of width.
The maker requires a professional assessment before any wall, flat-roof or raised install. Get that done before anything is fixed to the brickwork.
Where it can't go
- the yard's back or side walls, which are usually the boundary with the entry or next door
- any wall shared with a neighbour (a party wall)
- balconies
- buildings with timber, ACM, MCM or HPL cladding, or having external wall remediation
- anything held on with cable ties, rope, straps or tape
In England a kit on a house wall has to stay within set limits, can't go on a street-facing wall in a conservation area, and isn't allowed on a listed building. Plenty of Manchester terraces sit in conservation areas, so check with your council if yours might.
Or keep it on the flags
On the flags, the hybrid stand is held with expansion bolts or ballast on its lower feet. The maker's ground-kit ballast table doesn't cover the hybrid stand, so ask us first and we'll get the maker's figure for your kit. Don't use it ballasted until that's confirmed.
Tick these off first
Can't tick one? Sort it before you order, or ask us through the contact form.
- About 2.0m × 1.2m of sunny house wall or yard floor.
- A weatherproof outdoor socket within reach of the kit's 4m lead. Straight into the wall, no extension leads, reels or adaptors.
- Modern RCD protection in your fuse box. Old fuse box, or not sure? An electrician can check it, or fit the outdoor socket.
- Going on a wall? It needs a professional assessment first (the maker's rule), and it must be a wall of your own house, never the yard's boundary wall.
- Renting, leasehold or in a managed block? Get written permission from your landlord, freeholder or managing agent before you buy.
- Give your home insurer a quick ring before you set it up.
- Register it free at myplugin.solar before you switch on. That lets Electricity North West, who run the wires round here, know it's there.
- One kit per household, and never wired up with a home battery.

When it ships
Date to be confirmed
Once the maker confirms a date, the kit goes on pre-order and the dispatch date shows here, in your basket and at checkout.
On a pre-order you pay in full when you order. If we can't dispatch by the long-stop date in your confirmation email, you choose: a full refund or keep waiting. You can cancel for a full refund at any time before dispatch, and for 14 days after delivery.
The box is 1990 × 1165 × 130mm and weighs 45.5kg. It's slim, but long, so measure the turn from your hall into the back kitchen.
Folk often ask
What does the wall assessment look at?
Whether your wall and fixings are right for the stand and the wind it'll get. It's the maker's requirement for any install that isn't on the ground. We don't do assessments ourselves, so you'll book a qualified professional.
Can it go on the wall at the end of my yard?
No. On a terrace the yard's back and side walls are usually the boundary with the entry or next door, and boundary walls are off limits. A wall of your own house only.
Floor or wall: which is better?
Whichever gets more sun. In a lot of terrace yards the house wall catches sun the floor never sees. Our yard sun checker will show you.
